  FAQ

What's the difference between a wheel and a rim?
The terms are pretty much interchangeable; but if you want to get technical, the rim is the outer part of a wheel, where the tire mounts.

What's the difference between a replica and an Original Equipment wheel?
An Original Equipment wheel is one that was installed on the vehicle when it was manufactured. Replica wheels are exact copies of Original Equipment wheels, generally supplied when originals are unavailable. They will not be identified with the manufacturer's logo.

How do I determine what size my wheel is?
The size is always cast into the wheel, generally on the back or underneath the center cap. The diameter can also be found as part of your tire size. For example, if your tire size is P215/70R16, then you would have 16-inch wheels.

Can you fix cracked wheels?
Some we can and some we can't. It depends how the crack affects the structural integrity of the wheel. Severely bent wheels with excessive lateral run out or wheels with lug hole damage we will not repair.

Do you sell tires?
We now offer many brands of OE Replacement tires as well as being an authorized installer for the Tire Rack.

Why should I select a refinished wheel from you?

  • Our refinished wheels are only a fraction of the cost of new wheels.
  • We provide a Satisfaction Guarantee and a longer warranty than brand new wheels.
  • Each wheel is examined at every step of the process to assure quality and integrity.
  • We maintain a huge inventory to provide what you need, when you need it.
  • We have restored hundreds of thousands of wheels for thousands of customers, including the market leaders in every automotive related industry.

Will your refinished wheel match the other wheels on my vehicle?
Each of our replacement wheels is color matched to the original equipment finish.

What guarantees do you provide?
We provide an industry leading Warranty and Satisfaction Guarantee. Each refinished wheel by Transwheel is covered by liability insurance.

What is safe to repair?
We can repair most aluminum wheels with cosmetic damage. Some types of damage that can be repaired include minor bends, curb abrasion, flange damage and corrosion.

How quickly can I receive a replacement wheel?
If the wheel is in stock, we can ship it the same day. If we refinish your wheels, we can refinish them in as little as four business days. (This does not include shipping time.)

How does your pricing compare with the cost of new wheels?
As a guideline, our wheels are approximately 50% of the cost of new wheels. This percentage varies from wheel to wheel. Please call to receive pricing for your specific application.

What do you do to repair aluminum wheels?
The process varies depending on the nature of the damage. Each wheel is initially inspected to ensure that it is safe to repair. Then it goes through a series of refinishing processes that may include stripping, straightening, welding, machining, painting and clear coating. Each wheel is examined at each step of the process to ensure that it conforms to our high standards.

What services do you provide?

  • For aluminum wheels, we can restore your repairable aluminum wheel, exchange it with one from our inventory and/or sell you one from our inventory.
  • For steel wheels, we can sell you one from our inventory.
  • For chrome wheels, we can plate your nonchromed aluminum wheels, exchange your nonchromed wheels with chromed wheels and/or sell you a chrome wheel from our inventory.
  • We can also mount and balance wheels and tires for local customers.
  • We now offer TPMS (tire pressure monitoring sensors), as well as center caps and wheel covers.

Who utilizes your services?
We supply wheels to the leading companies in every automotive related market including insurance companies, body shops, dealerships, tire stores, auto recyclers, individuals, and automotive parts suppliers.
